Friends and chat¶
OpenPak has one friend list across every platform. A friend you add from a Switch is also your friend on a Wii U, in an emulator, on the website and in the app.
Friend codes¶
Each linked console gets a friend code. Switch codes look like SW-1234-5678-9012 (twelve hex
digits). When you type one, case does not matter and the SW- prefix and the dashes are
optional. Your codes are listed on your account page.
Wii and DS games show their own WFC friend codes; those are what you type to link a Wii or DS.
Adding friends¶
- On the website: openpak.org/account/friends → Add by friend code → Send request.
- In the app: the Friends tab.
- On a console: the console's own friend screens, which OpenPak answers.
The other person accepts or declines, and the friendship shows up on both sides. You can remove a friend at any time.
Presence¶
Friends see whether you are online, in a game (and which one, on which console or emulator) or offline. Presence works on the Switch but is still partial; offline friends stay in your list.
Blocking¶
Block stops someone from sending you requests, messages or invitations. Blocked accounts are listed on the friends page with Unblock.
Chat¶
There is one conversation with each friend, on every surface: the website (openpak.org/account/chat), the app and the console. A message sent on the website is the one their console shows. You can only message friends.
Game invitations¶
Invitations sent from a game are delivered and listed at openpak.org/account/invitations and in the app. Reading them there does not use them up, so the console still receives them.
Note
Invitations are partial during the alpha: they arrive, but joining a game from an invitation does not always work yet.
