Privacy and account deletion¶
The full texts are the Privacy policy and the Terms. They are what applies; this page is a short guide.
What OpenPak keeps, in short¶
- Your account: email address, a password hash (OpenPak cannot read your password), your handle and display name, and the country and date of birth consoles ask for.
- What you use: linked consoles, friends, blocks, invitations, chat messages, presence and play history, cloud saves, help requests and crash reports you choose to send.
- Network data: your IP address reaches every server you connect to. In many games the console connects directly to the other players, so they can see your address, as on the original networks.
OpenPak uses no analytics, advertising or tracking, and does not sell or share personal data for marketing.
Your choices¶
- Your profile (display name, avatar, bio) is visible to other players. Edit it on your account page.
- Revoke console links and sign out devices on your account page.
- Disconnect your own save storage at any time.
- Turn app notifications off in the app or on the phone.
- Crash reports are only sent when you say yes.
Delete your account¶
- Sign in at openpak.org and open your account page, or open Account in the app.
- Choose Delete account, tick the confirmation, and confirm with your password (and your two-step code or a recovery code, if you use one).
From that moment the account is closed: every session is signed out, nobody can use it, it disappears from your friends' lists and the app stops notifying your devices.
For 30 days you can undo it. Sign in again with your email address and password and you are offered to restore the account as it was; you can also ask us to restore it. Nothing is erased during these 30 days.
After 30 days it is erased everywhere, automatically, and can no longer be restored: your profile and avatar, sign-in data, console links, presence and play history, friends, blocks and invitations, chat messages, cloud saves and storage credentials, help requests with their attachments, linked crash reports, votes and compatibility reports. Signing in with the old address then works as for an address that never had an account. Only an anonymised record remains, to hold your handle for 90 days, and moderation records keep pointing at it.
Mods you published stay available to other players, credited to "deleted user" and no longer linked to you; your mod favourites, and any mod submissions that were never published or were rejected or taken down, are erased.
Backups are kept for up to 14 days; an erased account disappears from them within 14 days and is never restored from them. The Privacy policy has the full list.
